  • Came up with a lesson plan, for juniors in AP Literature, focusing on contemporary queer and POC poets.
  • Facilitated the class discussion on these poets, my experience in the literary community, and how poetry might grow in today’s atmosphere. Led an in-class writing session, using current news headlines and photos as inspiration for their poems.

The Latin School of Chicago, Guest Lecturer, Chicago, IL, 2016

  • Developed a lesson plan on queer poets/poetry and taught it to the LGBTQ+ senior English class
  •  Led class discussion about queer art-making, personal experience with poetry, and queer poets active in today’s literary landscape. Held in-class writing session, focused on “writing gender.”

  • Sole high school student chosen for Stanford’s excavating team.  Assigned to Southern Turkey National Heritage Site, living and working on site with international teams and local Turkish contributors
  • Onsite excavation of a 9,000 year old archeological dig, worked side by side with international archaeologists, preformed field studies on historic finds
